Troop 28 Campout Packing List
Label everything with your name. The Troop has tents, so you do not need to buy one. A headlamp and hiking boots are the two purchases most worth making. Trip-specific gear (helmet, skis, life jacket) will be listed on the sign-up sheet.
Check items off as you pack. The checks stay in this browser until you clear them. Summer camp uses the Troop 28 Makajawan Packing List.
Sleep
- Tent and ground tarp (unless you are borrowing from the Troop)
- Sleeping bag (appropriate for the season, with extra blankets if needed)
- Sleeping pad or mat
- Pillow (inflatable, compressible, or a pillowcase filled with clothes)
- Pajamas or other dry clothes for sleeping
Clothes
- Two changes of quick-dry clothes (no cotton): T-shirts, shorts, and pants
- Underwear and extra non-cotton socks
- Sun shirt (lightweight long sleeve) and lightweight pants
- Fleece or lightweight jacket
- Warm hat or stocking cap for sleeping
- Gloves
- Rain jacket or poncho
- Class B T-shirt(s)
- Swimsuit and micro-fiber towel, if the trip includes swimming
Shoes
- Hiking boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes
- Sandals or water shoes
Sun and bugs
- Hat with a brim
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen and SPF lip balm
- Insect repellent, non-aerosol (picaridin or DEET), and optional itch relief
Health
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, and deodorant
- Small personal first-aid kit
- Medications in the original prescription bottles
Gear
- Backpack
- Scout Handbook in a gallon Ziploc bag
- Headlamp or flashlight, with spare batteries
- Water bottle
- Mess kit: plate, bowl, cup, and utensils
- Pocket knife (folding; needs Totin’ Chip)
- Ziploc or other waterproof bags
- Camp chair

- $25 cash if we are stopping for food on the way
